President’s TCBLOG

My name is Matt Tallman, President of Trans Canada Brewing Company here in Winnipeg. TCB opened its doors to the public on October 14, 2017, and we approach our second anniversary, it is as good a time as any to start a blog I have long envisioned.

This blog is partly inspired by Dave Rudge of Half Pints Brewing. As a young craft beer drinker in Winnipeg, I often visited Dave’s blog on the Half Pints website, where he would discuss his thoughts on a myriad of issues. Dave’s blog offered insight into Half Pints, as well as discussions on important issues facing the craft industry, both in Manitoba and beyond.

There are several reasons for the creation of the “President’s TCBlog”. There are many out there looking to learn more about the industry as a whole in Manitoba. There is more I would like to communicate about the brewery. In an age of social media “debate” culture, it is sometimes easier to step back to a format that allows for more detail and nuance.

This blog will not discuss the day-to-day at TCB. For that, we have a very capable team. Rather, this blog will talk more about the philosophy behind TCB. Why we do the things we do, and what we are trying to achieve. My thoughts on our emerging industry in Manitoba, and observations on the state of beer and industry in Winnipeg and beyond. Random musings. Some posts, the big picture, and others, the little details.

Our first 22.5 months in operation have been an incredible journey with highs, lows, and everything in-between. TCB and the Manitoba independent scene have come a long way in just a few short years, thanks to the tireless support of beer drinkers across Manitoba. And with all that has already occurred, there is, still yet, an even brighter future ahead for independent beer in Manitoba.

Stay tuned!

Cheers,

Matt
